Yam Cake

For the recipe Yam Cake

For Yam Cake (A):

400 g Dr. Oetker Nona Rice Flour
1 tbsp Dr. Oetker Nona Tapioca Starch
1250 ml Water

For Yam Cake (B):

3 tbsp Cooking Oil
3 cloves Garlic (chopped)
3 Shallots (chopped)
100 g Dried Prawns (chopped)
600 g Taro (cut into 1.5 cm cubes)

For Seasoning:

1 tsp Five Spice Powder
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp White Pepper (Groud)

For Garnishing:

1 tbsp Cooking Oil
150 g Dried Prawns (fried & ground finely)
Crispy Fried Shallots
Spring Onions
Red Capsicum

For Sauce:

100 ml Chilli Sauce
100 g Sweet Sauce




Combine all ingredients A into batter, sieve and set aside.


Heat oil over medium heat, saute garlic and shallots till fragrant and light brown.


Add in dried prawns and saute till fragrant. Add in seasoning and taro cubes, stir fry for 30 seconds.


Add in rice flour batter and adjust to taste.


Stir over low heat until batter thickens. Pour into a greased 9" tray and steam over boiling water for 40 minutes or until cake set. Remove from heat.


Leave to cool and cut into pieces. Garnish and serve with sweet sauce and chilli sauce.
