Some handy ideas to help you achieve perfectly turned out cakes.
To properly prepare baking tins:

Brush the bottom of the dry cake pan with margarine, butter, shortening, or cooking spray.

Sprinkle the bottom and sides with a bit of flour, roll the tin to ensure it is evenly coated, then discard the excess flour from tin.
Note: Cocoa powder can be used for chocolate cake
